Want to learn Lamh?
To all Parents/Carers
A basic Lamh session is being held in the Conference Room, Level 1, Scally's Place, Justice Walsh Road, Letterkenny on Tuesday 12th March 2013 fron 7.00 to 8.00pm
Lamh is a sign system that is used along with speech and it is used to support and/or extend communication.
many of the signs are based on natural gesture. Lamh allows you to see and hear what is being communicated. Signing encourages people to slow down. If speech is unclear, the Lamh user may be more easily understood when using signs. This encourages many users to try new words and to ay more. It encourages eye contact and attention to movement; skills that are important for speech development.
The rules of signing will be discussed and approximately 100 commonly used signs will be taught. Should you not be able to attend, another session will be planned for September and then February/March 2014.
This course is being facilitated by Suzanne Thomas, Speech and Language Therapist.
